How much energy is needed to heat a litre of water by one degree Celsius?
The calorimeter allows you to determine this property of water.
Fill the jar with water and insert the immersion heater. You can calculate how much energy is supplied to the water by noting the voltage across the immersion heater, the current consumption and the time. The specific thermal capacity of the water can be calculated if the temperature change is measured as well.
