Spectacular demonstration of induction – a shooting star.
Complete kit with base unit and five different rings.
An aluminium ring is threaded onto the vertical rod of the base unit. When the firing button is pressed, the ring shoots about one metre up into the air. The secret is that an electromagnetic field is generated in the vertical rod and that currents are then induced in the aluminium ring, causing an opposite electromagnetic field. The result is that the light aluminium ring is launched upwards.
How is maximum height the ring jumps to affected by its dimensions and material?
How is the height the ring jumps to affected if it has a slot?
Can two rings be launched at the same time?
