Uncoloured slides, e.g. bacteria, can be viewed more clearly with a microscope fitted with phase contrast.
Phase contrast equipment can be added to your microscope to bring out contrasts in very thin, almost transparent slides. When the light passes the object, phase shifts occur which are dependent on the thickness and material of the object. We are unable to see these phase shifts. The optical parts of the phase contrast equipment convert these phase shifts so that they can be seen as different light intensities in the microscopic image.
The phase contrast lenses supplied are plan achromatic, which gives better sharpness across the entire field of vision. Instead of replacing the condenser, a phase contrast slide is easily slid into the bracket above the existing condenser.
Contents: Plan achromatic phase contrast lens (10x. 40x), phase contract slide and setting binoculars.
