What is the difference between pneumatic and hydraulic and how does a jack work?
Among other things, the study guide shows how to build a pneumatic drawbridge.
The kit includes study guide (swedish), syringes, hose and connectors. The three lab experiments in the study guide cover the difference between having air or water in a system, the exchange that occurs when a small syringe is connected to a large syringe, and how a jack works. The study guide provides a pedagogic explanation of how a double-acting hydraulic cylinder works and how it is controlled with an oil pump, an oil tank and a valve assembly.
At the end of the study guide, there are tips for how to build a hydraulically-controlled press, a lifting crane or a drawbridge. The drawbridge can be built with ice lolly sticks, hot melt glue and paper clips. For the lifting crane, an electric motor holder and rubber bands may also be required. Four short pieces of board and some nails are needed to build the press.
