Classic equipment for determining an object’s velocity and acceleration.

Thread a strip of paper through the tempograph, then attach the strip to an object to move along a sloping plane or fall freely. Start the tempograph and let the object start moving. The tempograph's metal arm makes 50 points per second on the strip of paper. The velocity and acceleration of the object can be calculated by measuring the distance between the points on the strip.
